Rootbound: No Orders, Only Sun
Rootboundis a party-based auto-battler roguelite about a garden that fights without you.
Every plant and every pest carries a counter. It ticks down each turn, and at zero that unit acts on its own -- attacks, heals, whatever it is. You never give an order. You never move a unit.
What you get is Sun, and there is never enough of it. Spend it to push a plant to act early, to stall a pest one more turn, or to heal something that will not survive otherwise. Every point spent somewhere is a point not spent elsewhere.
A run is four fights. You draft five plants from eleven before the first, then arrange them front to back -- which matters, because what stands in front takes the hits. Between fights you are offered one of three. There is no way back.
Some plants are worth more beside each other than apart. Nothing tells you which. That is the part worth finding out.
